About Us - Foot Forward 5K

Our Story

As high school distance runners from Westmont High School, we wear through shoes fast—often retiring them once they’ve hit their mileage limit. But we realized those same shoes still had plenty of life left. While they may no longer carry us through training runs, they’re still perfectly good for walking, commuting, or simply getting from place to place. That simple realization inspired us to organize the Foot Forward 5K. Our goal is to raise awareness and collect shoes that can be passed on to people who need them most. For us, it’s about giving our shoes a second life—and giving others the chance to take their next step forward.

Why Soles4Souls?

Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization that collects new and used shoes and clothing and distributes them to people in need. Since 2006, they have distributed over 80 million pairs of shoes and pieces of clothing in 129 countries and all 50 states. By supporting this event, you are directly contributing to their efforts to fight poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing.
